Lewisham Labour is calling on Boris Johnson to ensure that he puts the local community first with the development of Convoys Wharf.
The major development on the riverside has the potential to transform the area. But the Mayor of London has taken control of the planning process, depriving local people of their say on the important issues.
Dame Joan Ruddock MP recently secured a Parliamentary debate on the issue in the House of Commons. Mayor Steve Bullock has also written to the Mayor of London to demand that the development provides both enough affordable housing and sufficient new infrastructure - such as schools, health services and open space - for the new residents. He has also called for a recognition of the area's important historical and cultural significance.
You can find out more about the development here. Mayor Bullock's letter is below.
